Da Ra
Cursed by the sun, but haunted by the sand. A forsaken Knight who was said to hunt his enemies in darkness, and seek refuge in the dunes by day. No one knew his intent, other than to satisfy his desire to mix the blood of his enemies with the desert sand.
Angelus
The King of the arena. The ashes of the opponents he killed and burned in the arena gave color to his armor. The grey of death and ash. Cursed with this duty until the end of time, when the wars on earth are over and there is no arena left in the world. Only then will he rest. “The gods’ punisher on earth”.
Glitnir
It is said Glitnir was never defeated. It is said he emerged victorious from battles where even all hope was lost. There was no better commander on earth than Glitnir, nor in the heavens. Sent by the gods to command the armies of The Oligarchs, his perspicacity was borne out of centuries of war.
Camellia
It is said he fell in love with a treacherous princess who made him prove his love on the battlefield over and over, until his heart itself died , while his ravaged body lived on.
Lava
Legend tells tale of a fierce anger that consumed this Knight, turning his heart molten. The fire of his life became dependent on his anger. And so, the more angry he got, the longer he would live. Forever he fights on the front lines of battle to fuel his rage and prolong his wretched life.
Menel
Menel is legendary amongst the Oligarchs; his silver-blue armor is said to reflect a thousands stars. In the ancient tongue his name means "Lord of the Dome of Heaven". Legend tells that he was sent into battle by the gods to uphold balance, order, and justice in the world.
Midas
Midas was cursed in his mother's womb, and was born so hideous it is said she died at the sight of him. The curse was twofold: everything he touched turned to gold. So he never took off his mask, and he remained alone all his life. He joined the wars of the Oligarchs to find the sorcerer and lift the curse.
Minotaur
Legend tells of a boy who grew up with animals and became the Knight known as The Minotaur. Half-man, half-beast, now it is said he controls the wilds of the land. He has no human connection except for the Oligarch Knights, of whom he is one.
Spartan
The legendary warrior known as Spartan, who is said to have sacrificed his soul to the god of war. It is said he fought his first battle as a child, when he put out the eyes of a drunken thief in his father's home with two candlesticks. He never rests while there is a battle to fight.
Aja
Aja, it is said, was Nature’s Saviour. The Oligarch Protector of Gaia. Assigned to protect the elements through the endless wars, he was said to have a proclivity for all things green. His power reached its heights when he was in nature.
Atar
Atar was said to have been born on the streets. He knew no family, only the other outcasts like him. He became the father of the bastards, the homeless, and the poor. The leader of a gang called "The Others" made up of vagabonds like him. A true bloody assassin. For years he killed for money, not realising he truly searched for the acceptance of the family he never had.
Phylax
Phylax: A giant created by the gods, with extraordinary powers. He was tasked with protecting an unknown treasure inside a dying volcano. His whole life was spent fighting to protect it, until he was called to war by the Oligarchs.
Lähettiläs
Lähettiläs wandered in the shadows for centuries. He never gets tired, never sleeps, never gets hungry. He gathered knowledge for Lords from every corner of the earth. It is said his sealed lips opened only to the ancient sages whereupon he said, "Prepare for disaster, they will come for Eruma".
Andlát
“Knock knock, open the door. Behold my sword, my beloved. You are mine, death has come." If you see Andlát, the gates of hell have opened. Now you have no choice but to die, there is no escape.
Raistlin
Raistlin was cursed at an early age and his physical constitution deteriorated. As his body wasted away, he gave everything to magic and became the greatest sorcerer in the realms.
Commodus
Legend tells of Commodus: An emperor, who grew sick of being protected by others. So desperate for a real fight, he disguised himself as a gladiator. He fought valiantly, proving himself a worthy warrior.
Tuoni
The Knight of the underworld, Tuoni came to the Oligarchs in search of the Keys to Death. They offered him power, but at the cost of his waking eyes. Blinded, he roves the lands rattling the Keys he won at great cost.
Xemx
A Knight of the Middle Sea, and Commander of the Oligarch fleet, Xemx was known for his desire to sail to the edge of the earth in search of the setting sun. He took his ship to the farthest sea and has not been seen for many years.
Ulgen
Is it said this Knight was a divine being who was so desperate for wisdom he searched every corner of the heavens. One day he tripped and fell to earth. He sought the Oligarchs to find his place amongst humankind.
Gawain
Known for his naivety and his pride, Gawain was tricked by the god of mischief into killing his own child. Tormented by grief and guilt, he pledged to redeem his life for the Oligarchs in battle. His child's soul roves the earth looking for justice.
Heimdallr
One of the purebred gods of the North, he was guardian of the Oligarch council and keeper of the keys to their palace. Known for his nobility and stature.
Hector
A mighty warrior cursed by the gods with one weakness: Hector could never turn down a fight. When the Oligarchs called, he answered. He fought valiantly for a time, but could not rest when peace came. He is still wandering the land, looking for a battle to quench his thirst for death.
Aerin
Aerin was never seen without his companion, a majestic golden eagle who never left his side. On the day she was struck down by a stray arrow in battle, Aerin was so grieved he fled the company and was never seen again. Some believed he threw himself from the Tower of the Oligarchs in the golden city, but his whereabouts remain a mystery.
Gorthaur
Once a Knight of noble stock, Gorthaur became embittered by the weakness of those around him and prideful in his own talents. He cast his friends and family aside and gave himself over to the ends of his greed and depravity. Even the gods were disgusted by his lusts. The Oligarchs called him despite his proclivities, for he was a mighty warrior.
Uat-Ur
Blessed with cunning was The Green Knight, famous for his armor and its distinctive verdigris. It is said he tricked his enemies with riddles and puzzles so they were forced to yield to his will. One of the Oligarch's top strategists in the years of war.
Mfalme
Once King of many lands, Mfalme grew famous before his time. As his fame grew, so did his pride and arrogance. He was overthrown by his rivals to the throne and has stalked the land of his forebears ever since, a nameless, faceless malice.
Balor
It is said that Balor had an evil eye that could destroy opposing armies, though it took four men to pull open his eyelid. He was a commander within the Oligarchs until he grew tired of leading from the back. He now rides on his horse on the front line as battle draws near.
Svartr
Black in heart, mind, soul, and purpose. No light or joy was known around him. He was a bringer of pain and malice to all he knew. The Oligarchs admired him, and used him to strike terror into the hearts of their enemies.
Orodreth
One of the divine, who were warrior princes in the distant Kingdoms, called to battle by the Oligarchs in the First Great War. Known for his bravery and forbearance. Golden in name, and nature.
Ernil
The Prince who never became King. Ernil was the heir to his father's throne, but so displeased him with his careless lifestyle that the throne was given to his sister in his place. Enraged, Ernil killed her in cold blood, and was cursed by the gods to never be content again.
Nuada
It is said that Nuada lost his arm in battle, and was so incensed that he cut off the arms of every prisoner he captured in battle. He tried every curse and spell to grow back his arm, but the gods withheld it to punish them, cursing him to a life of bitterness.
Fenrir
Born the child of a she-wolf who was impregnated by one of the gods. He was said to be part-man, part wolf. The Oligarchs controlled him and used him for their own ends. A savage on the battlefield, with a feral nature.
Hjalmar
Hjalmar was born of a divine mother and a human father. His left side was mortal and his right eternal. He killed his enemies with ease, unless they approached from the left. He was the Oligarchs' champion for a time.
Ajax
Never satisfied with second best, Ajax fought his way from the streets to the very top. His ambitions were so great he ostracised even his family for fame and wealth. A mighty warrior.
Archambaud
Archambaud stole his suit of armor from the gods' forge and was blessed with divine protection until the day he took it off to bathe. His enemies stole the armour and he was severely wounded that day in battle. Known for a deep greed and avarice.
Hayate
The Sudden Sound of the Wind. Hayate was at home in the dark, and always after blood. Known for his stealth and cunning. He was the assassin of the Oligarchs, sent to kill whomever they chose, whenever they chose.
Castor
Castor was a famed warrior who loved no man or woman greater than his family. Legend has it he took an arrow to the heart to save his brother in battle. The gods, jealous of his perfect fraternal love, resurrected Castor to watch his beloved die instead.
Zinariya
Zinariya was second to no man. It is said his mother loved him so much she saved him from certain death as a child by offering herself up to bandits in his place. He has searched for her ever since.
Grimmur
The spawn of the divine evil. Even his own mother was afraid of him. He was truly savage, impetuous, and violent. The Oligarchs respected him and used him warily. Known for his unpredictable anger.
Imperator
The Emperor Knight does not know failure. He was one of the leaders of the Oligarchs, but little is known about his murky past. It is said he emerged from a rock that was split in two by lightning, and carries a mantle of supernatural authority from the gods themselves.
Dauðamaðr
The Lord of Knives, so named because of his proclivity for sharpened steel. By his enemies he was named the Man of Death: a deadly warrior whose prowess at taking lives was unmatched.
Menelaus
It is said Menelaus would never abandon a fellow warrior in battle, even if the odds were in vain. He was given the title Knight of Valor by his fellow Oligarchs.
Orrszarvú
Orrszarvú was blessed by the gods with unmatched strength, but cursed with an uncontrollable temper when provoked. Once a great weakness, the Oligarchs taught him how to master himself.
Hunyon
Legend tells of a suit of armor given by the gods to a noble Knight from the outer lands: it flares white gold in the daylight and glows silver in the moonlight, and blood runs freely from across its burnished surface.
Trygve
The gods blessed Trygve with a single immutable virtue: he could only speak the truth. A leader amongst the Oligarchs because his word could always be considered veracious.
Voras
Legend speaks of a Knight whose malevolent craft and cunning were famed: no one could outwit him or control him. The Oligarchs kept his lust for manipulation in check, except when dealing with their enemies.
Badak
Little is known of the Iron Knight. The mask he wears never leaves his face. He wields his rusty cudgel without mercy on the battlefield. Some say he lost his family to a gruesome murder, and ever since his wreaked his revenge on all who stand in his path.
Arglar
As a young man, Arglar served his apprenticeship as a butcher. When his master was slain in a violent robbery, he vowed to spare no man in his pursuit of justice. For years he sought the killer, and as his skill with a blade grew, his morality faded like a flower in the desert sun. He became the Butcher of Men.
Ashyl
In a land where every man fought only for his own interests, Ashyl was famed for his generosity. It is said he would periodically strip the characteristic gold plates from his own armor to give to the poor.
Berserkr
Tales of the Berserkr have haunted the lands of free men for untold generations. On the battlefield his strength and brutality are infamous. The skull he wears is crafted from a great bear he slew as a young man.
Caradhak
It is said the gods cursed Caradhak with the ability to read only the wicked thoughts of others, and never the good. Thus he lost all faith in the honor of man and is a feckless battler, pursuing only pleasure and bloodshed.
Erglis
The Winged Knight is so named for his distinctive helmet, modelled on the wings of the falcons his family reared when he was a child, living in the shadow of the Eastern foothills. Known for his stealth and speed, he will appear as if from the sky in the midst of the battle to cut down his enemies.
Eyraborg
Eyraborg was the heir to the throne of a distant land. Upon hearing of the Oligarchs and their conquests, he abandoned his birthright to seek acceptance amongst them. After many bloody battles, he was proven worthy to take his seat at their table as an equal.
Gloazirh
Once challenged by a famous warrior, Gloazirh is famed for throwing a fatal spear from 100 yards directly into the eye of the pretender. No armor in all the land shone as brightly as his, who earned his place at the high table of the Oligarchs by virtue of his supreme skill with blades of every kind.
Gordost
Gordost was once a prince in the freezing climes of the Northern kingdom. One day, his younger brother tricked their father into disowning Gordost and casting him out of the family. Now he is stateless, he has earned a living as a vicious mercenary, bringing his ice cold demeanour to every battle he fights.
Har Geas
Infamous in the Oligarch ranks for his unpredictable temper, Har Geash was imprisoned as a child for the brutal killing of his entire family, of which he was the lone survivor. Betrayed by no man, he is unpredictable, and prone to violent eruption. A fierce and deadly warrior.
Hel
Little is known of her origins. She is feared, but adored. Hel, the divine Knightess of the Underworld. So called because death follows her wherever she goes.
Hringr
Legend tells of a cursed but beautiful crown, whose wearer would always be struck and killed within a day of wearing it. Such was its charm that many men sought to take the crown despite its morbid reputation. Hringr was among them, and fought many men to keep his prize. It is said he never removed it for fear of theft or loss.
Iluvatar
A prince among men, and a leader among his peers, Iluvatar was said to inspire those around him even as a child. A magnetic and brilliant trailblazer amongst the legions of the Oligarch army.
Jiqìren
Jiqìren was feared by all who knew him. A feckless and gruesome killer, he had no respect for human life. Only the Oligarchs were able to temper his instincts and channel his prowess for their own ends.
Lagertha
An Oligarch warrior of terrible and famed prowess, it is said that men would be drawn to her bright armor in battle, only to be cut down by her savagery. When death came to her enemies, it was seen as a gift.
Layaqhr
It is said Layaqhr was a general in his own land, who was tricked and abandoned by his men, and left to die in battle. With the help of his fellow Knights, he hunted down those who had betrayed him one by one. Now he trusts few, and his own honor above all else.
Matybr
Legend tells of a warrior who was tricked by a demon and trapped in a cave with no means of escape. Over days and nights he dug his way out of the thick clay using only his hunting knife. True or not, Matybr was elevated to the Oligarchs years later, and tales of his great determination are legend.
Mazargul
None have seen the Golden King and lived. To behold him is terrible and exquisite in equal measure.
Morgothir
The name of Morgothir was feared by men and gods alike. He was an Oligarch champion, and a leader of their fighting legion. And from every corner of the world people came to pay him homage, equal in great wonder and mortal dread.
Norogh
The crest of Norogh's helmet is sharp enough to cut through human flesh, earning him the nickname: The Talon. He hones its edges with a whetstone from the peak of Szilvási-kő, the highest mountain in the region of his birth. He joined the Oligarchs as a mercenary warrior.
Óendilegur
Legend tells of a Knight of the Oligarchs who was blessed by the gods with endless stamina, which he used to overcome his enemies in great feats of heroism. Óendilegur would be found fighting for many days until he was the last man standing, and the battle was won.
Ragnar
Legend tells of this fearsome warrior knight who led an army from the northlands in a brutal conquest. Named The Bonecrusher, it is said he took pleasure from crushing the skulls of enemy generals with his giant mace. He was a captain in the Oligarch army.
Sormrelt
Sormrelt is a foreigner in the lands of the Oligarchs, and his origin is a mystery. Legend speaks of a warrior whose face was disfigured by years of torture: he never takes off his great helm in the presence of others.
Szürke
The Oligarch known as Szürke: his words are not to be trusted. He corrodes and corrupts with everything he utters. His forebears cut him off for fear of descending into his treachery.
Talyon
A silent and merciless killer, Talyon was a hired assassin for many years, until he gradually grew old and weak. It is said that on his deathbed he made a pact with the gods, who renewed his youth and allowed him to continue his deadly work, having thwarted time itself.
Vaerve
The Knight of the Sea, according to legend, was born from the union of a beautiful warrior from the sea kingdom and Mendacius, the god of deceit. His armor is said to have been crafted from the iridescent pearls she so loved. Vaerve inherited his father's bent towards trickery and cunning, which he now uses in service of the Oligarchs.
Valar
The Silver Knight. His armor was said to shine so brightly on the field of battle, it would blind the eyes of the enemy against which he stood. Rumors abound it was polished by a blind mage whose whispered incantations imbued it with supernatural light.
Wælreow
None could satisfy the bloodlust of Wælreow the Oligarch. A fearsome warrior known as much for his love of battle as his exploits. It is said he would not wash his armour between battles until the enemy was finally routed.
Xyraví
Given his prowess with a sword, winning countless duels on behalf of the Oligarchs, it is no mystery how Xyraví earned his moniker: "The Blade". A deadly foe, whose tongue was as sharp as his scimitar.
